As the saying goes, “Even the best laid plans go awry.”
Earlier in the week, I decided to set up the Kindle pre-order of The Winter Garden (IMD #2), and of course, I made a schedule for what I need to accomplish each day for the next two weeks. Each day, I planned to edit about 5 chapters while finishing up the ending. Luckily, I built in quite a bit of padding and I figure I will be able to get it done by March 31st (technically the 21st because that is when Amazon needs the final file), but I am sick.
On Monday night it began with the sniffles and snorts, which I brushed off as my allergies. The next morning I woke up with a lovely cold complete with a stuffy nose, runny eyes, and fatigue. Somehow, I managed to pull myself together enough to get through five chapters of editing (granted, none of them were in need of major revisions). Today, I feel lousy. I thought I felt better this morning, so I figured, “Hey, I’ll easily get through five more chapters, especially the first one, which needs to be expanded.” Hahaha, no. A combination of being sick and stress (my boyfriend’s eighteen year old cat passed away last night) have given me a monster of a migraine.
Part of me is very glad that in my schedule I have it so that I can do five chapters of editing over the course of two days. Originally this was done because I have to go to the office on Friday, so getting five chapters done in the evening isn’t very practical. Maybe I was a bit too optimistic when I thought I could get most of it done before class started again on the thirteenth. I keep telling myself that despite how crappy I feel, at least I have made a decent amount of project. 14.5 out of 37 chapters have been edited over the course of three days.
Oh well, I’m going to go cuddle under my blanket with my dog and my laptop to keep me warm and hope this headache goes away soon.
I’ve had something similar happen to me all week. Migraines that linger and then retreat briefly only to come raring back again. Stay warm and you’ll get there. 🙂
Thanks, Sarah. I’m currently under my blanket and hopped up on Aleve. I have work tomorrow, so I’m hoping it will go away by then. Suffering through 7.5 hours of work with a migraine is not my idea of fun.
I know what you mean. Try popping 2 benadryl with that aleve. Trust me. You’ll thank me later.
