There isn’t much in life that gets me super excited, but the prospect of the second book in my historical fantasy/steampunk series being released in only a few months makes me squeal with anticipation. Last night, after being asked by one of my followers on Goodreads when book two was being released, I decided to set it up on Amazon for Kindle pre-order. The official release date for The Winter Garden (The Ingenious Mechanical Devices #2) is March 31st, 2015. If you pre-order a copy of the ebook, it will automatically download onto your Kindle device on March 31st. You can order it here.
I’m on the last two chapters of The Winter Garden, so I think this timeline is doable. If left to my own devices, I would take forever to finish my work, but with a deadline looming, I have kicked it into high gear. Between yesterday and today, I have done the first round of edits on chapters one through nine. Of course, I will go through several rounds of editing, especially after I hand it off to my beta readers, but since I have cover done and the story 90% done, I am confident that I can tackle this in the time I have remaining. I’m sure that at some point in February I will be freaking out about deadlines and classwork and how I fear I won’t be able to get it all done. If I pace myself and take out a chunk a day, I know I will be able to do it. I have to, otherwise I’m banned from doing pre-orders for a year.
Unfortunately, I cannot arrange pre-orders for paperbacks, but they will be released at the same time as the paperback, and I will update everyone when they are available. Throughout this process of releasing my second novel, I will be posting about editing, beta readers, formatting, and any other odd incidents that occur between now and March.
